To celebrate European Researchers’ Night 2026, plant biotechnology researchers welcomed high school students to the Department of Biotechnology in Verona on September 24 for a hands-on workshop on plant genetic engineering.
Guided by Claudia Battarra and Zeno Guardini, the students explored what Agrobacterium is, how it works, and how researchers grow and handle it in the lab. They then put their new knowledge to the test, trying different methods to identify genetically engineered plants.
A special thank you to profs Linda Avesani and Sara Zenoni for organizing this activity.
